![]() The Mīqāt Dhu al-Ḥulayfah (Arabic: مِيْقَات ذُو ٱلْحُلَيْفَة), also known as Masjid ash-Shajarah (Arabic: مَسْجِد ٱلشَّجَرَة, lit. 'Mosque of the Tree') or Masjid Dhu al-Hulayfah (Arabic: مَسْجِد ذُو ٱلْحُلَيْفَة), is a miqat and mosque in Abyār ʿAlī, Medina, west of Wadi al-'Aqiq, where the final Islamic prophet, Muhammad ﷺ, entered the state of ihram before performing 'Umrah, after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Residents and activists have calculated that around 21,000 residents will be affected. The move is part of plans by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s government to privatise companies and other assets belonging to the Suez Canal Authority, allowing foreign investors or entities to control six strategic ports overlooking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, including the port at Arish.
